A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Dillon Fontenot, 87, will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakdale, LA on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1 o’clock p.m. Rev. Fr. Vijaya Peddoju will officiate. Burial service at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oakdale, LA with full military honors to follow.

    Family will receive friends and visitors on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale from 9 o’clock a.m. until time of departure. Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. All Paul’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

    It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Paul, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

    Paul Dillon Fontenot was born on Monday, June 5, 1939, to union of Otis and Effie Fontenot. He was drafted in 1962 and proudly served his country for 23 years. Long after his service ended, he continued to give back as a counselor for combat veterans, offering steady support to those carrying the weight of war.

    When he met Patsy Daniels, he found the love of his life. Together they shared a marriage of 64 years, traveling the world before settling down in Oakdale, Louisiana. Paul will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

    He is survived by his wife, Patsy Fontenot; his daughter, Paula Fontenot, and her husband, Sid; his son, Gary Fontenot, and his wife, Yvonne; his granddaughter Jessica and her husband, Steve; his granddaughter Ellerie and her significant other, Jonas; his grandson Justin; and his great-grandson, Michael. He is also survived by his brother, Darrell, and his sister, Joanne, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

    Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Otis Fontenot and Effie Taylor Fontenot.
