Kinder-Funeral services for Patsy Austin Sylestine, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. John Cernek will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 5-10 p.m. with a singing service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Patsy was a loving wife to her husband, Curtis "Chief" for forty-two years until his passing in March 2021, as well as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She was loving, caring, had a great sense of humor, strong-willed and the leader for her family. She enjoyed playing softball growing up. She played short stop and was darn good at it. Patsy also enjoyed singing Gospel music and traveling to pow-wows with her husband, kids and grandkids. She was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives--from going to games to traveling; anywhere with them was her happy place.  Patsy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Patsy's memory include her son, Russell Sylestine of Elton; three daughters, Naomi Hebert and husband, Shane, of Elton, Kristy Sylestine of Crowley and Vannessa Gonsalves and husband, Steven, of Kinder; one brother, Hamon Austin of Elton; two sisters, Henrietta Poncho of Livingston, TX and Windola John of Elton; and sixteen grandchildren.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Dorothy Austin; husband, Curtis Sylestine; two brothers, Claude and Johnny Austin; and one sister, Viola Battise.
