Oberlin-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patricia Fontenot, 73, announce her passing on October 12, 2014. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 12 o'clock noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Oaklin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, from 3-9 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Patricia was a devoted wife of 55 years to her husband, Darrell. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well. She was retired from the Allen Parish Department of Child and Family Services. She was also a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Ladies' Altar Society. Patricia was honored to be the first city councilwoman of Oberlin. She enjoyed painting, reading, knitting, sewing, and working in her yard. She also cherished her time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell Fontenot, of Oberlin; one son, Eric Pierre Fontenot of Oberlin; one daughter, Monica Warren, and husband, Shane, of Oberlin; three grandchildren-Dustin Chaumont, and wife, Britney, of Moss Bluff, Austin and Jordan Warren of Oberlin; and, one great grandchild-Landry Chaumont of Moss Bluff.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Dalton Martin and Nola Marie Touchet and her sister, Roselyn Richard.
