James Calvin Alexander will officiate. Patricia will be laid to rest at Creel Memorial Gardens in Reeves, La. immediately following her services.

Patricia’s family will receive friends and visitors at The Chapel of Creel Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 1 o’clock p.m. until time of service. All of Patricia’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.

Patricia Lee (Pat) Almany was born in Reeves, Louisiana, on September 26, 1940. After a recent decline in her health, The Lord called Pat to her eternal home on June 2, 2026. She died at Hospice in the Pines, Lufkin, TX.

We will celebrate Pat and her contributions to her family, to her church, to her community and to the world through her lifelong passion for teaching children.

When Pat was 8 years old, the family moved from Reeves, LA. to Nacogdoches, TX. She attended schools in Nacogdoches, graduating from Nacogdoches High School then attending Stephen F Austin State College, majoring in Elementary Education, until her graduation. She accepted a position in the Houston Independent School District where she taught elementary school for 35 years. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Houston for many years, and after retiring from HISD, she served on the church board in helping to create their new private school, The Wesley Academy. Pat restarted her teaching career serving as a second-grade teacher in the new school she helped to establish. She then taught another 4 years before finally retiring for good.

A perk of being a teacher is having a couple of months off during the summer. Pat and her Best Friends, Loretta Hankins, Malinda Redman and Jean Seeker, planned wonderful vacations together. They toured Israel, rode camels to the pyramids of Egypt, rode donkeys and cruised the Greek Islands, explored the beaches, pineapple ranches and volcanoes of Hawaii, climbed pyramids in Mexico, explored the jungles of Jamaica and traveled to some of the beautiful places in our own country. These trips and friendships lasted her for a lifetime.

She enjoyed talking about her trips, and she would speak with the same enthusiasm as she did when she first returned home. One of her caregivers at the nursing home can attest to that. She said Pat told her about her trip to Israel decades earlier and the nurse said she felt like she had been to Israel when Pat concluded her tale. These were, perhaps, the happiest of times in Pat’s life.

When Pat moved to Nacogdoches, she threw herself into her new life and new world. She was a member of the Dilettante Club, New Comers Club and volunteered at Hope Food Bank. She attended the First Methodist Church, joined a Sunday school class, of which she was the youngest member, a distinction which she relished and became President of the class. She was truly home.

Pat was born into a large family. She was the sixth child born with three more to follow. Earline (Sally) Baggett, the first born, Wanda Alexander was the second born, Eddie Glyn (Glenda) Lantrip was third born and third daughter. Then the fourth child and first son, Earl Cornelius Almany, Jr. sadly, became ill at about eighteen months and was taken straight to heaven. After enduring that loss, fifth child and second son was born, Harry Gordon Almany. Then, our honoree, Miss Patricia Lee Almany, sixth child, fourth daughter, was welcomed into this home. Then two more boys, child number seven, third son, Hubert (Butch) Almany, child number eight, fourth son, Samuel (Sammy) Almany, and lastly Marita A. Kingrey, fifth daughter, ninth child and only surviving sibling, was born into this large, loving, Christian family of honor and integrity.

Though Pat never married or had children, if she ever saw a young child or baby, she was drawn to them. She had to go look at them, speak to them and give the appropriate oooo’s and ahhhhh’s. She treated each niece and nephew like they were partly hers and she was always the teacher. She generously gave children’s books to all of them so that their parents would read to them. Pat was blessed and was a blessing.

Those left to cherish Patricia’s memory include her sister, Marita A. Kingrey and husband Larry of Nacogdoches, TX.; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Earl C. and Sarah Anne Almany; three brothers, Harry, Butch, and Sammy Almany; three sisters, Earline Baggett, Wanda Alexander, and Glenda Rice Lantrip.
