Obituary

Kinder-A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held for Oscar Hugh Griffiths, 68, at 6 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Green Oak Bible Church. Rev. Jerry Long will officiate.
The family will receive visitors at Green Oak Bible Church on Saturday from 4 P.M. until time of service.
Hugh was a lifelong resident of Kinder. He served our country in the United States Army. He was a professional forester as well as a forestry consultant. Hugh and his wife, Anita, were together for fifty years and had two children, Michael and Cathy. Family was very special to him. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Hugh was also an avid gardener-he could plant anything and it would grow. He was a skilled hunter, fisherman, and artist. His favorite hobby was woodcarving. He also enjoyed making homemade wine for his friends and family to enjoy. Hugh was an active member of several organizations in his community. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Griffiths, of Kinder; two sons, Michael Kevin Griffiths, his wife, Christine, and sons, Kristian Blake and William Matthew, all of Sulphur and Carson Watkins and wife, Ina, of Crowley; one daughter, Cathy Jean Griffiths and daughters, Sarah Rhiannon and Caroline Elizabeth, all of Lake Charles; three brothers, William Marius Griffiths of Kinder, Ted Griffiths and wife, Jeanette, of Kinder, and Albert Bo Griffiths and wife, Debbie, of Georgia; two sisters, Sue Buillot and husband, Ed, of Toledo Bend and Julia Dink Jones and husband, Jimmy, of Roswell, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mavis Griffiths, and one brother, Paul Griffiths.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Hugh's memory to Green Oak Bible Church, Methodist Children's Home of Sulphur, or American Cancer Society Research.
All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
