Kinder-Funeral service for Ora Bertrand, 81, will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Gary Bankson will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 4-9 p.m. and will resume at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Ora was a lifelong resident of Kinder. He served our country as a United States Marine having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the farming and trucking business for over 45 years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was also the owner of Irene's Lounge 1 and 2 for many years. He enjoyed people, good times and dancing. He was a friend to all, especially his lifelong friend, Jerry Marcantel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons, Lucien Bertrand and wife, Cherylan, of Rose Pine, Curtis Bertrand, and Shannon Bertrand and wife, Samantha, all of Kinder; one daughter, Eva Marie Bertrand of Carencro; one sister, Yvonne Domas and husband, Sidney, of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
Ora is preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Eva Bertrand; his son, Michael Leon Bertrand; and his daughter, Crystal Gayle Bertrand.
