Oberlin-Funeral service for Olin P. Manuel, 72, will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel. Burial will follow in Manuel Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors Monday, June 16, 2014 from 3-10 P.M. at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 South 7th Street, Oberlin. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Dale Deshotel at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Olin was a lifelong resident of Oberlin. He was a United States military veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed LSU and Saints football. His passion was "cutting grass" and he loved riding the "country roads" with his right-hand, "Hunter." His family and friends will cherish his memory.
Survivors include his companion, Pam Chaumont, of Oberlin; four sons, Chad Manuel and Bryan Manuel of Basile, T-Joe Chaumont of Kinder, and Ted Vidrine of Keller, TX; one daughter, Jade "Mimi" Manuel of Basile; four brothers, Clanny Manuel and Nelson Manuel of Oberlin, Melvin Manuel and wife, Joyce, of Ragley and Joe Manuel of Oberlin; one sister, Ruby Smith of Winnie, TX; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and the mother of his children, Barbara Ellen Johnson of Basile.
Olin is preceded in death by his parents, Alexson and Edna Manuel; one brother, Earl Manuel; and three sisters, Irene Courville, Mildred MacArthur, and Carrine Granger.
