Oakdale-Memorial services honoring Nona Pearl Laborde, 82, will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, September 18, 2024, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Rev. Chad Longino will officiate. Nona's inurnment services will be held at Occupy #1 Cemetery in Pitkin immediately following her services.

Nona's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 1 o'clock p.m. until time of service. All of Nona's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Nona was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed being around people. Nona always looked forward to her family's reunion. Reminiscing about old times was something she also appreciated. Nona loved all types of music including country and pop, but Elvis Presley was her favorite. She enjoyed cooking special meals for her family when she was able and taking special picnics with her grandson. Nona was an affectionate and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Nona's memory include two sons, Jimmy James of Azle, TX, and David James of Pitkin, LA, two daughters, Linda Pelt of Pitkin, LA, and Bonita Sweat of Lake Jackson, TX; three step-children, Gregory and Neal Laborde and Becky Giles; three brothers, Jessie, Truman, and Sanford Doyle, three sisters, Annie Garlington, Betty Doyle, and Modina LaCaze; seven grandchildren including a granddaughter that she raised, Shelly, twelve great grandchildren including a great grandson that she raised, Tristan; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Nona is preceded in death by her parents, Tilly, and Minnie Doyle; one brother, Thomas Doyle, and six sisters, Gertie Gay Hart, Ruby Johnson, Opal Ray, Dorothy Laney, Billy Poug, and Ottis Weeks.
