Reeves-Funeral service for Nettie Louise Newell Heintz, 97, will be held at Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel in Reeves on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3 p.m. Rev. U.A. Dorian will officiate. In case of his absence, Rev. Glen Ducharme will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume Sunday at Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Nettie was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong resident of Reeves and member of Reeves Bible Church. Nettie was the previous owner of Heintz Truck Stop and Café. She was on the Village of Reeves City Council for 8 years and served as mayor for twelve years. While mayor she was instrumental in the building of the Reeves City Park, getting a sewer system for the town, and getting the streets of Reeves resurfaced. Nettie will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Nettie's memory include her son, Michael Heintz; two grandsons, Shannon Heintz of Lafayette and Brian Heintz of Reeves; and 5 great grandchildren.
Nettie is preceded in death by her parents Allen and Ella Newell; her husband, R.J. Heintz; and her brother, Pat Newell.
