Oberlin-Funeral service for Nelson Manuel, 89, will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Deacon Dale Deshotel will officiate. Burial will follow in Manuel Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 8 a.m. until time of service. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.
Nelson was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was a perfectionist, friend to all, and never met a stranger. He was a man of his word, very honest, and he loved helping everyone. Nelson was a lifelong resident of Oberlin as well as a lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was a retired rice and bean farmer. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Nelson is survived by three brothers, Clanny Manuel of Oberlin, Melvin Manuel and wife, Joyce, of Ragley, and Jerry Joe Manuel of Oberlin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Nelson is preceded in death by his parents, Alexson and Edna Manuel; two brothers, Olin Paul Manuel, Earl Manuel; four sisters, Ruby Smith, Carinne Granger, Irene Courville, and Mildred MacArthur.
