Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Monica Louise Welch, 71, will be held at 1 o'clock p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Christ Church in Oakdale. Rev. Bro. Greg Willis will officiate. Monica will be laid to rest at Willis Flatts Cemetery in Plainview immediately following her services.

Monica's family will receive friends and visitors at Christ Church in Oakdale on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 10 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Monica's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Monica was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored spending time with her family and friends. She was a graduate of Elizabeth High School where she excelled in running track. Monica dearly adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time and make memories with them. She was an avid watcher of old movies but her favorite movie of all was I Can Only Imagine. Monica was a very kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Monica's memory include her two sons, Stephen and Harley Gill; two brothers, Mark and Robert Johnson, one sister, Kathleen Johnson Fontenot; ten grandchildren, one great grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Monica is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Juanita Johnson; her husband, Ernie Welch; one son, Chris Gill, one daughter, Jessica Gill; four brothers, Gary, Arty, Darnell, and Daniel Johnson, and one sister, Dale Fontenot.
