Milton Joseph "Joey" Harris went home to be with his Lord on July 19, 2024, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer was followed by a stroke. He was a faithful, strong, and loving man. Joey was dearly loved and adored by all who had the privilege to know him. He finished his course here on earth with strength, respect, and honor. Joey was a loving and devoted son. He was a faithful husband to his wife Lolen Harris. He was an amazing father to his children, was the proudest Papa to his many grandchildren, and assumed many other roles in which he supported others with conviction and care. Joey was a man of great talent, skill, and conviction. As a young man he became an excellent mechanic, where he worked for several years at Acadian Ambulance before he accepted a new career as a contract Oil Field Gauger. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and his life was reflective of his love for his church and community. Joey was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Pitkin where he played a key role in teaching Sunday school and serving in many leadership roles for almost 30 years. He made a lasting impact there that will be remembered for all eternity. Joey enjoyed using his mechanic skills, farming his land, but most of all spending time with his family whom he dearly adored. He leaves behind a lasting legacy for his family, instilling in them to follow God and study his word. Joey will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Joey's memory include his wife, Lolen Harris; his mother, Doris Vaughn and husband Michael; three daughters, Chasity Mancil and husband Wallace Mancil Jr.; Hannah Odom and husband Warren, and Zoey Harris; two sons, Joey and Gary Harris; one step-daughter, Jamby Salengua, and one step-son, Dan Jay Salengua; two brothers, Casey Stokes and wife Candice, and Daniel Stokes and wife Sarah, one sister, Emily Stokes; ten grandchildren, Austyn, Kaelyb, Gracye, Abbrym, Rosalie, Greenlei, Apollo, Violette, Griffin, and Copper; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Joey is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Annie Harris, and the man he chose to call dad, Bro. Gary Wade Johnson, who loved him as his own and was so proud to call him son. It is certain their reunion Heaven is full of joy; they are together and whole again in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Casey and Daniel Stokes, Wallace Mancil Jr., Warren Odom, Austyn and Kaelyb Moore, Albert Welch, and Terry Silva. Honorary pallbearers serving are Eugene Stokes, Michael Vaughn, and James Dillon.

Joey's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Marcus Ware at Ochsner, New Orleans, Mrs. Juanita Perkins, and Clear Sky Rehabilitation for the outpouring of love, care, and kindness throughout his treatment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
