Fenton-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mildred Spears Thibodeaux, 91, at St. Joseph Borromeo Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 1 o'clock P.M. Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will follow in Indian Village Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at St. Joseph Borromeo Catholic Church of Fenton on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 12 P.M. until 9 P.M. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 P.M. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Borromeo Catholic Church on Wednesday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Mildred was a resident of Fenton. She was very active in her church and was known as one of the patriarchs of St. Joseph Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She worked as a cafeteria worker for several years with Jeff Davis School Board. She also loved to quilt and sew. She enjoyed cooking, as well. Her favorite time was that spent with her family. She was a very proud mother of eleven children. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include six sons-Edwin Spears and wife, Madeline, of Iowa, Roy Spears and wife, Billie Jo, of Avinger, TX, Glenn Spears and wife, Darlene, of Boyce, Gerald Spears and wife, Carolyn of Lake Arthur, Anthony Spears and wife, Donna of Westlake, and Roger Spears and wife, Shirley of Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and, 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Lucy Fontenot; her first husband, Delma Spears; her second husband, George Thibodeaux; three sons, Michael, Larry, and John Ray Spears; two daughters, Caroline Copeland and Linda Savant; and two sisters.
