Elton-Funeral service for Merna Elaine Trahan, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Elton.  Rev. Barrett Marcantel will officiate.  Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018.  Visitation will resume Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Merna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a devoted wife to her husband, Charles Trahan, for 53 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elton for 53 years.  Merna enjoyed cooking for her family and enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune".  She was a woman of strong faith and raised her boys in the way of Christ.  She was a friend to all.  Merna will be dearly missed by her family and the whole community.
Those left to cherish Merna's memory include her husband, Charles Trahan of Elton; four sons, Chuck and wife, Wendy, of Jennings, Troy of Elton, Chad of Ragley, and Todd and wife, Melissa, of Egan; four brothers, Hubert, Earl, Floyd and Clarence Gotte; three sisters, Betty Manuel, Verbie Miller, and Sharley Gotte; eight grandchildren, Chase, Mariah, Meghan, Tyler, Justin, Ryan, Trent, and Jacob Trahan; and one great grandchild, Braxton Wilson.
Merna is preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Merelia Gotta; two brothers, Marion and Richard Gotte; one sister, Brenda Gotte; and one grandson, Bryce Trahan.
