Oberlin-Merlin Joseph Duplechian passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, September 24, 2021 with his family by his side.  In honor of Merlin's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will host a private memorial service in Merlin's memory at a future date.

Merlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and bird-watching. He also loved the "piney woods" and being outdoors. Merlin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left the cherish Merlin's memory include his two daughters, Melissa Duplechian Duncan and husband, Kary of Oberlin and Shon Duplechian Myers of Mississippi; one son, Merlin Joseph Duplechian, Jr. and wife, Roberta of Mamou; three sisters, Delores Spears of Ridell, Clair Lynn Smith of Oberlin, and Wanda McDaniel and husband, Alton of Oberlin; one brother, Samuel Duplechian and wife, Rosella of Ridell; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
