Maxine Dugas Hutchinson came into this world on September 13, 1940, born to Cleveland Dugas and Marie (Soileau) Dugas in Lafayette, LA. As the story has been told, it wasn't an easy birth, and she had been a fighter ever since. She spent a good portion of her childhood in Kinder with her Soileau grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. As a young adult, she moved to Lake Charles and had numerous friends while working at the Pitt Grill. While there she ran into her future husband, Jim Hutchinson, the "foreigner" from Oklahoma as her "old granny" used to say. She was always one for neat attire and she noticed first hand that he needed help, as he was maintaining his own clothes and had shrunk his pants. They dated shortly and married on December 27th, 1962, during the Christmas Holidays. Their journey began as husband and wife. As Maxine traveled with Jim, she always made a home, not just a place to live. On this journey in their life, four children were raised. Her children had a great childhood, one that they hoped to pass on to their own kids. Holidays were always met with numerous pictures, which she loved, and displayed. And, she loved shopping for her kids and grandkids. Her grandkids were more like her own, she helped to raise them, and her children will always be grateful. Her hobbies were her family and her home. Her afternoons were spent picking up her grandkids from school and taking them to Aunt Clem's "coffee time" with Aunt Myrtis, Linda, Shirley & Jean. Maxine always enjoyed visiting with her in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish Maxine's memory include her devoted husband of 52 years, Jim Hutchinson, of Kinder; her four children, Michael Hutchinson and wife, Lanice, of Oregon, Darla Thompson and husband, Jarrod, of Elton, Kevin Hutchinson and wife, Christiana, of Westlake, and Tanya Hutchinson of High Island, TX; and, 10 grandchildren-Terry Paul, Nikki, Megan, Arielle, Conner, Emma Jean, Heidi, Alaina, Noah, and Danica.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday, November 21, 2014, from 4-9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Rev. Carroll Bushnell will officiate. Interment will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
As Maxine walks in heaven with her mom and dad that passed before her, her family want her to know that they will be fine, knowing that she is looking down upon them, because she raised them well; and, what more can a person leave on this earth than their children to continue their traditions and values. May Maxine rest in peace!
