Maxine E. "Sue" Coor-Pender, 87, succumbed to COPD on Friday the 22nd of February at Christwood Retirement Community of Covington, La. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, February 25, 2013 in China Cemetery of Elton under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Maxine was born August 3, 1925 in Kinder, La. to Lucretia Mayfield Coor-Pender and June Feitus Coor-Pender. She graduated from Elton High School and completed Chenier Business College in Beaumont, TX.
During her colorful lifetime, she resided in Texas, California, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana.
She spoke proudly of her travels, early modeling, acting, bookkeeping, and property management. She had a generous spirit and enjoyed helping others.
She succeeded her mother as a trustee of the Olive Tupper Foundation for Nursing, providing scholarships to students from Southwest Louisiana. Special interests were the McNeese University School of Nursing, Lucretia M. Tupper Professorship in Nursing at MSU, Olive Tupper Professorship in Nursing at MSU, MSU Nursing Library, and the Calcasieu Community Clinic.
Maxine is survived by one son, Captain William R. Perrin and wife Carolyn of Franklinton, La.; one grandson, Randy Merle Perrin and wife Amanda; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Evangeline all of Mandeville, La.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, June Feltus "Coop" Coor-Pender Jr., and stepfather, W. George Tupper.
