Oberlin-Memorial Service celebrating the life of Matthew Wade Taylor, 46, will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. Rev. Whitney Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Durio Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of service with the Holy Rosary at 1 p.m.
Matt was a loving son, husband, father, and brother. He was a 1990 class graduate at Oberlin High School. He earned an associate's degree in instrumentation and electricity at I.T.I. in Baton Rouge. He served our country in the National Guard during the Desert Storm Era. Matt traveled throughout the country as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed salt water fishing and Cajun cooking. He also enjoyed having crawfish shipped to his home no matter the location to introduce them to his friends. Matt enjoyed watching documentaries, discovery channel, and he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Most of all Matt loved his little dog Gracie. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. Matt was very generous with all of his friends and family and loved to share his joy of laughter. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Matt's memory include his wife, Gray Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina; parents, Kenneth Taylor and wife, Wylene, of Oberlin and Gloria Villegas and husband, Peter, of Oberlin; two sons, Patrick Taylor of New Mexico, and Austin Currier of Roxboro, North Carolina; three daughters, Lauren Taylor of Lake Charles, Rachel Blizzard and husband, Tyler, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Leah Currier of Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters, Rachel Manuel and husband, Steve, of Oberlin, Nikki Miller and husband, Scott, of Basile, and Christina Broussard of Basile; 3 grandchildren, Roe Blizzard, Ruby Blizzard, and Naydeen Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Matt is preceded in death by one brother, Christopher Taylor.
