All of Matt's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Matthew David “Matt” Ray was born and raised in Plainview, Louisiana. He was a deeply loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and grandson whose kind heart and unforgettable smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Known affectionately as “Bubba” by his family, Matt was the youngest of five children and the only son. He shared a special bond with his older sisters.

Matt attended Plainview High School, where he developed a love for sports. He especially enjoyed baseball, playing as both a pitcher and second baseman, and also loved the game of basketball. He enjoyed the friendships and memories those years brought him.

As a young boy, Matt loved spending time outdoors. Some of his happiest days were spent fishing, hunting, and crabbing, creating memories that would stay with him throughout his life. As he grew older, his interests expanded to include technology, where he enjoyed building computers, designing and playing video games, and exploring his creativity through writing books.

Matt had recently begun working as a laborer at NCMC. He also enjoyed working alongside his brother-in-law at ABIS Arms.

Matt will be remembered for his creativity and beautiful smile. Though his time here was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

His final day was surrounded with fun, happiness and the love of his family. He was cradled in his parents' arms along with the love of his sister and closest family as he was called home.

Those left to cherish Matt's memory are his parents, David and Jennifer Ray; four sisters, Jade Menard (Paul), Linsey Ray, Erin Martin (Drake), Madison Ray; his maternal grandparents, Francis and Sandra Mire; seven nephews, Sebastian, Isaac, Atlas, Barrett Menard; Bentley and John Martin; Brantley Deaville; one niece Sarah Martin and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws extended family members and friends that loved him dearly.

Matt was preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents, Robert C and JoNell Ray.

Pallbearers to serve are Paul Menard, Taylor Mire, John Juneau, Dana Gremillion, Gavin Perkins and Brennan Guidry.

Honorary pallbearers Drake and Bentley Martin, Sebastian and Isaac Menard.
