Oberlin-Funeral service for MaryAnn Manuel, 72, will be held at Oberlin Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.  Rev. Pascal Stowell will officiate.  Burial will follow in Manuel Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Oberlin Baptist Church beginning on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 3-9 p.m.  Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

MaryAnn was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.  She was the "baby" of her family and was adored by all of her older siblings.  When she was two years old, she loved climbing on everything, especially doors.  Her brother, Kermit, would reach over the door and give her a banana and nicknamed her, Monkie.  Ever since, MaryAnn has been known as "Monkie", "Ms. Monkie" or "Aunt Monkie."  She has always been a kind, caring and giving woman.  She worked hard over the years to raise her three children.  She worked in many administrative assistant positions with various companies throughout her lifetime.  Most of all, Monkie adored her children and grandchildren and would give of her time and talents to anyone and everyone in need.  She loved helping others and will be remembered for her "sweet" voice and beautiful soul.  Some of her favorite pastimes include football, camping and cooking.  She always supported her children in all of their activities.  Monkie was very rich in "love" for others; she had a very close-knit family whose best times were those in which they were together making lasting memories.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Monkie's memory include her two sons, Bernie Alan Sawyer and wife, Sara, and Brett Reed and wife, Kristi, all of Kinder; one daughter, Leanne Reed of Oberlin; three brothers, Leon Manuel of Oberlin, Kermit Manuel and wife, Sylvia, of Kinder and Rodger Manuel and wife, Carla, of Winnie, TX; one sister, Gleta Granger and husband, Danny, of Oberlin; and, 9 grandchildren.

Monkie is preceded in death by her parents, Bon and Gladys Manuel; and one sister, Marsha Adams.
