All of Mary’s arrangements have been entrusted to care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
Mary dedicated her entire life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. When her kids were young, she was “the mom” for everything. Classroom mom, sports mom, and “adopted” mom to so many! She was the oldest of a big, loud, and boisterous family. She loved to cook for everyone, and everyone always requested her gumbo! She also loved thrift shopping and garage sale’ing. In her younger years she loved music and dancing. In her later years she loved sitting on her porch listening to KBON. She was loved tremendously and will be missed by every person that she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter Audrey Michelle Wiseman and husband Richard and son David Wayne Shambaugh; grandchildren Gabriel Cain Wiseman and Ashtin Alexzander Wiseman and wife Eimy; sisters, Margie LaRive and husband John, Carla LaRive and husband James, Helen Wells, Leona Cerda and husband Armando, Paula Pruneda; brother, Leonard Wells and wife Esther and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 50 years Aubrey “Pop” Fontenot; mother, Marjorie Wells; sister June Lynch; niece, Julie McLaughlin and nephew, Tommy Flores.
The family would like to acknowledge and show appreciation to the wonderful staff at Oakdale Community Hospital. They made a very difficult and emotional time a little easier to bear. They would also like to give special thanks to her “adopted” daughters, Selena Thompson, Carla Olivier, Chantel Poullard, Triska Melbert (Minnie Lou) and Tonia Green. She loved y’all so much!
Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Mary’s family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com or on Facebook at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
