Oakdale-Mary Nell Gordey, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2024, at a local care facility. Mary's family will host private inurnment services in her memory at a future date. All of Mary's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mary was born on July 12, 1941, to the union of cotton farmers Horace C. and Mary Louise Lamb in Steele, Missouri, and was one of four children. In 1957, she moved to Sulphur, LA, where she would raise and support her two sons by doing odd jobs. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, in 1982, Mary would remarry to her current husband, William "Bill" Presley Gordey, whom she would share a wonderful 42-year marriage with. Together they would travel while working construction jobs and would receive their well-deserved retirement in 1999. They then moved back home to Louisiana to the home place of her husband "Bill" where they reside to current day. Mary loved to do yard work, and growing vegetables in her garden. She enjoyed "putting up" all the vegetables she raised in her freezer and being able to eat them throughout the year. Mary also loved to sit on her porch, watching and listening to the birds, and admiring her beautiful hanging baskets of flowers. She dearly adored her family and loved to spend time with them, but especially adored her two granddaughters, Kristi, and Rachele, that her son Danny and daughter-in-law Debra gave her. Mary was a very kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Mary's memory include her husband, William "Bill" Presley Gordey; two sons, Danny Boroughs and wife Debra, and John "Johnny" R. Gordey and wife Jenny, one daughter, Jennifer Davis and husband Kevin; one sister, Barbara Worris; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Shirley Lamb; two granddaughters, Kristi and Rachele, six great grandchildren, Gannon, Brody, twins, Grady and Gracee, Blake, and Laken; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Horace C., and Mary Louise Lamb; one son, Kenneth "Kenny" Lynn Boroughs; and two brothers, Robert C., and Carlos E. Lamb.
