Obituary

Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Mary "Jane" Dugas, 81, will be held at 10 o'clock a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. Rev. Fr. Pradeep Gali will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest at Soileau Cemetery in Oberlin immediately following her services.

Mary's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Friday evening, May 17, 2024, from 4-8 o'clock p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 6 o'clock p.m. Mary's visitation will resume at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, from 8 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Mary's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a faithful and devoted wife to her husband Francis Dugas for 60 years. Mary was also a faithful member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin, where she attended church regularly. She was the owner and operator of Dugas Grocery and Frosty in Oberlin. Mary and her husband worked countless hours to provide for their family. She loved to paint, do arts and crafts, and was an amazing artist. Mary loved to share her artistic skills with her children. Her passion was giving her artwork to her family and friends. Mary will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all how knew her.

Those left to cherish Mary's memory include one son, Mark Dugas and wife Kelly of Oberlin, LA; two daughters, Angela Guidry and husband Kent of Oberlin, LA, and Christine Meaux and husband Kevin of Oberlin, LA; two brothers John Deshotel of Basile, LA, and Tim Deshotel and wife Liddie of Rowlett, TX; two sisters, Joyce LeJeune and husband Russell of Lake Charles, LA and Margaret Roy and husband Michael of DeRidder, LA; six grandchildren, Alison Bergeron and husband Cameron, Madison Meaux, Zachary Dugas, Austin Manuel, Amber Manuel, and Allie Manuel; and two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Emma Bergeron.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Elby and Aza Deshotel; her husband, Francis Dugas; one son, David Dugas; one sister, Virginia Krazter; and one grandson Kade Guidry.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Jennifer Henry, Anna Manuel, and Brighton Bridge Hospice for all of their care and compassion while taking care of Mary.
