Oberlin-Funeral service for Mary Ola Manuel Bass, age 83, will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2pm in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Manuel Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors beginning on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 4-9pm in Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel with a rosary being recited at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 20th from 8 am until time of service.
Mrs. Bass loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved playing Bingo, going to the casino, playing cards with friends and eating out. She had the sweetest smile you could ask for. She had been a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home in Oberlin for the last several years.
While living there, she met a lot of people she loved very much, especially her roommate. The staff on the 100 Hall were an amazing crew that took care of Mrs. Bass.
Those left to mourn her loss include her three children-Roland J. Bass, Roger L. Bass and Patricia A. Bass, all of Oberlin; four grandchildren-Carmen Perkins and husband, Steve of Oberlin, Natalie Jenkins and husband, Paul of Kinder, Tonia Brown of Oberlin and Rusty Richmond of Oakdale; and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bass is preceded in death by her father, Mayo Manuel; her mother, Carmeliete Duplechain; her husband, Calvin J. Bass; and one son, Preston Bass.
