Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mark Haas Johnson, 59, will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Reed Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

On Thursday, April 15th, 2021 loving husband and son, Mark Haas Johnson passed away in Flower Mound, TX. Mark was born January 18, 1962 in Kinder, LA to Jack and Ellen Johnson, and was raised in Oberlin, LA. Mark earned his Post Doc at the University of Minnesota, his PhD at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and his Masters at LSU. Mark worked as the Director of Seasoning Applications for IFF in Carrollton, TX for the past 21 years. Mark was known for his ability to cook – whether it was smoking ribs, cooking sauce piquante, or boiling crawfish – he didn't miss an opportunity to feed family and friends. He will be missed, loved, and always remembered.

Mark is survived by his spouse, Kathi Johnson with whom he would have celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary this July; his loving Mom, Ellen Johnson of Oberlin, LA; three brothers, John Johnson of Beaumont, TX, Chip Johnson and his wife, Peggy, of Lake Charles, LA and Pete Johnson and his wife, Trisha, of Shreveport, LA; three sisters, Anne-Marie Linhuber and husband, Rudy, of New Orleans, LA, Emily Doumite and husband, John, of Lake Charles, LA and Allyson Spicer and husband, Scott, of Sulphur, LA; and fifteen beloved nieces and nephews that he was very proud to call his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Johnson of Oberlin, LA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mark Johnson.
