Marjorie Joan Jordan lived 85 beautiful years, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and cherished memories for those who were blessed enough to know her.

Her love story with her husband, Sidney, “Bug”, began on a blind date when he arrived to pick her up on his motorcycle. That first date blossomed into nearly 66 years of marriage, a lifetime spent building a home, raising their family, and standing beside one another through it all. Bug was her companion and the love of her life. Their shared bond was a testament to a love that endured through the years.

California was home for most of their married life, where they raised their family and made countless memories. When retirement brought them to Bug’s home state of Louisiana, she gradually found a home there, too.

Family was the heart of her world. She devoted her life to caring for her children and helping raise her grandchildren, always finding happiness in their smiles and wanting to make life special for those she loved. Her greatest joy was seeing her family happy, and she made sure they knew how much they meant to her.

She was a woman who loved adventure and the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her horses, and riding horseback through the mountains. If she could have gone barefoot everywhere, she would have! She loved the outdoors and could often be found watching the wildlife right outside her kitchen window with a cup of coffee. She appreciated life in her own way, with a spirit that was always ready for the next adventure.

Caring for others came naturally to her, both at home and in her work as a CNA in a care home. She showed love through home-cooked meals, thoughtful gestures, good conversations, and her famous back scratches and back rubs. Anyone fortunate enough to receive one knew just how special they were!

She loved cooking for her family but was equally happy to enjoy someone else’s cooking. Special occasions often meant going out to eat, and certain favorites were always worth getting excited about, especially Sissy’s barbecue ribs, potato salad and meatball gravy. If a meal served included something she didn’t particularly care for, Sissy made sure she received a little special treatment to accommodate her taste.

After years of looking after everyone else, she certainly deserved to be spoiled herself.

In her later years, waffles with butter and syrup became a staple. A good sweet treat brought her plenty of happiness. She knew what she liked and wasn’t easily persuaded otherwise!

She had a personality nobody could mistake. Straightforward, quick with sarcasm, and always ready with a joking gesture, she kept everyone guessing. Her humor was part of her charm, and she could turn an ordinary moment into a story the family would tell for years.

She enjoyed reading and writing, often putting things on paper so she wouldn’t forget a detail or a moment worth remembering. She became the family photographer, usually standing behind the camera rather than in front of it. She wanted to capture every adventure and preserve the moments that mattered. Although she may not appear in many photographs, she was an essential part of the stories they tell.

During the final six years of her life, her beloved “nieces,” Sissy (Straw Boss) and Misty (Boss), lovingly stepped into the role of caregivers. Their care was an extraordinary expression of love, and the bond they shared will always hold a special place in her family’s story.

As her loved ones reflect on her life, they will remember her adventurous spirit, her quick wit, her love of family, her favorite meals, and the many little ways she made people feel special. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, storyteller, and the keeper of countless family memories.

Eighty-five years is a lifetime, yet saying goodbye will never feel like enough time. Her family will carry her with them in the photographs she preserved, the stories they share, the meals that remind them of her, and the laughter that comes when they remember one of her jokes. Even though she is no longer here to capture the next family adventure, the memories she treasured will continue to tell their story for generations to come.

As Margie would say; “This too shall pass”.

Special Thanks

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Harbor Hospice of Oakdale and its compassionate team for the care and support provided during her final chapter. A special thank-you goes to her nurses and CNA, Cheryl, Misty, Angela, and Andrea, for the kindness, dedication, and compassion they showed her and her family.
