Marian was a loving mother, grandmother-"Aapo", and great grandmother-"Aapo Chooba". She was a Coushatta Tribal Elder and was a member of the Deer Clan. She was a prayer warrior and a deaconess at the Indian Bible Church where she faithfully worshiped her entire life. Her love for God was immeasurable. Marian was a talented artist and an ambassador for Coushatta Tribe in basket weaving. Her various styles of baskets are displayed in many museums throughout the United States, including the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. One particular basket she made and gifted was presented to the Pope at the Vatican in Rome. She loved having her family gather together and would prepare the most delicious meals. However, despite her wonderful ability to cook, she loved going out to eat Chinese food. You could often find her listening to or singing Gospel music. Marian was also an avid sports fan of L.S.U. and the New Orleans Saints. She also enjoyed watching golf and game shows on television, especially Wheel of Fortune . In addition to her immediate family, Marian had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved as though they were her own. She will be greatly missed by her family, her tribe, her church family, and many others who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Marian's memory include two sons, Roderick John and wife Angela, and Ricky Dale John all of Elton, LA; two daughters, Roxann Sellers and husband Greg of Vicksburg, MS, and Regina "Tee" LaBuff and husband Terry of Kinder, LA; one brother, Randy Robinson and wife Marlene of Livingston, TX, one sister, Ena Mae Sickey of Elton, LA; fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
