Kinder-Homegoing service for Margie Fontenot Woodcock, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Alfred Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a devoted wife to her husband, L.J., for forty years until his passing in June of 1986. She was a woman of strong faith. Margie truly loved the Lord. She was very dedicated to her church and was very proud of her Pentecostal heritage. She enjoyed gardening. Margie also enjoyed cooking and baking. Strawberry and rum cakes were her specialty. She worked as a hairdresser for the majority of her life. Her family was her pride and joy. Margie was the "Kinder historian" as well as the historian of her family. She was very meticulous about her clothing and loved wearing pretty clothing. Margie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Margie's memory include her two sons, Larry Woodcock and wife, Kay, of Lake Charles, and Mike Woodcock of Kinder; one sister, Ethel Sacker of Kinder; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Barbara Rostrum; spouse, L.J. Woodcock; one son, Mark Woodcock; one brother, Winifred Fontenot; and one sister, Relia Sliman.
