We celebrate the passing of Margie to a much better place. She was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Oakdale, where she attended for many years. Margie loved God, her Church, her friends and especially her family. She worked as a food technician for many years where she was employed at the Nursing Home, Oakdale Elementary School, and Oakdale Community Hospital. In her later years, she was a caretaker for small children. Mrs. Margie's greatest job was that of a single mother. She was very dedicated to the raising of her four daughters where she made many sacrifices and worked hard to provide for them. Margie made sure that all her girls were headed in the right direction in life. Therefore, she was obedient to the word of God, never "sparing the rod of correction". Margie loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was very successful in raising her children, which was her greatest achievement. Margie was a strong woman with a determined spirit. We are sincerely thankful God granted her PEACE and REST.
Those left to cherish Margie's memory include four daughters, Rita Stanley of Oakdale, Pam Carroll and husband Willard of Pitkin, Karen Pelican and husband Gary of Kinder, and Terri Laird and husband John of Oakdale; one brother, Clint Welch of Lake Charles, six grandchildren, Anthony Pelican, Heath Carroll and wife Amber, Courtney Theriot, Erik Carroll and wife Morgan, Catlin Carroll, and Garrett Pelican, ten great grandchildren, Madison, John Luke, Avree, Chase, Kane, Reid, Hadley, Rhett, Elle, and Everly; one special nephew, Willie Welch and wife Suzan; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents Clint and Mary Welch; four brothers, Leonard Welch, J.C. Welch, Cecil Welch, and Gilbert Welch; and two sisters, Evelyn Welch, and Mildred "Elaine" Stanley.
Margie's family would like to thank special caretakers, Jo Anna, Leslie, Chantel and others for their care. There are just too many to list. A special thanks to Heart of Hospice of Alexandria, La. We truly appreciate all the love, care, and compassion shown to her.
