Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Margery “Annie Frances” Chambley Mellon, 97, will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12 o’clock noon at Christ Church in Oakdale, La. Revs. Greg Willis and Greg Texada will officiate. Margery will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery in Oakdale, La. immediately following her services.

Margery’s family will receive friends and visitors at Christ Church on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 10 o’clock a.m. until time of service. All of Margery’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

Margery “Annie Frances” Chambley Mellon ,97, of Woodworth, La. was born on April 27, 1929, in Greenwood, Ms. She entered eternal rest on July 17, 2026, at Allen Oaks Nursing Home, Oakdale, La.

At the age of 43, she became a beautician and worked at this well into her 70’s. She loved making people feel better about themselves thru her talents. She also loved the fellowship with her clients.

Marge loved gardening. Whether it was growing flowers or vegetables, she enjoyed every minute of it. She also loved to can the vegetables she grew. One of her favorite things to do was to get in Raymond’s garden and threaten to pick that first ripe tomato or dig his potatoes before they were ready. This was always a battle and produced many great memories for them both.

Visiting her friends was a special gift that she possessed. It was almost like a ministry to her. As they all got older, she always made it a priority to make sure they knew just how special they were. Her love for God and her church family was immeasurable.

Those left to cherish Margery’s memory include one brother, Bernard Chambley (Gail) of Oakdale; three sons, Eddie (Kathy) Lawrence of DeRidder, Raymond (Missy) Lawrence of Woodworth and Dean Lawrence of Oakdale; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with a bonus family of four, Mike, Rick, Bob, and Karen Mellon. From this bonus family came eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was abundantly blessed with many. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Margery is preceded in death by her parents Sam Hart and Rachel Evelyn “Polly” Chambley, three brothers Raymond, Harry, and Russell Chambley, one grandson Chad Lawrence, one great-granddaughter Destini Lawrence.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Curt Lawrence, Curt Hollis, Kyle Lawrence, Caleb Guillot, Matt Johnson, and Mark Pender.

Thank you to the staff of Allen Oaks Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for their care and love. We know she was a handful and kept you all entertained. A special thanks to Greg and Celeste Texada for their love and support for many years. Also, a big thank you to Greg and Jane Willis and Christ Church for always making our mother feel important and loved. You know how much she loved you both and her church family.
