Manuel John, affectionately known as "Cruz", was a member of Elton Assembly of God Church. He loved spending time with his family and was a hardworking man. He worked with the Coushatta Tribe until "he couldn't work anymore". He was President of the Coushatta Hunting Club since 2005. He loved bowling and was Captain of the "Coushatta Rollers" bowling team. He enjoyed playing his accordion and guitar. Cruz never met a stranger; there wasn't anything he would not do for someone, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a tough, fighting man who was very proud of his Coushatta heritage. He was very comical and liked to pick and play. Cruz's family and friends will cherish his memory.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria John, of Elton; one son, Donovan John of Kinder; four daughters, Jessica John of Lake Charles, Stephanie John of Elton, Chrystal LeJeune and husband, Derrick, of Kinder, and Tiffani John of Lake Charles; two sisters, Lora Langley and husband, Kirk, of Kinder and Linda Laughlin of Elton; as well as ten grandchildren.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lycia John; and two brothers, Alvin and Wilfred Wilson.
