Lurline was born and raised in Mamou, Louisiana. She married her husband, Houston of Soileau, Louisiana and they settled in Oberlin where they raised their four children. Lurline loved children and that love filled her home when kids and family was there. She loved to travel, read, and cook. Her specialties were many, but her gumbos and sausage and gravy were the best of all. She was very proud of her French heritage, especially the language and the music. Lurline will be greatly missed for her laughter and her forever love for her family. She accepted the Lord as her savior and is now rejoicing with him.
Those left to cherish Lurline's memory include her son, Ronnie Fontenot and wife, Faye; three daughters, Verona Montou, Linda Gandy and husband, Jack, and Becky Rhame and husband, Faron; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.
Lurline is preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Aurore Veillon; her husband, Houston Fontenot; five brothers; two sisters, including her twin; one grandson, Mark Gandy; and one great grandson, Hunter Tompkins.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Frances Nursing Home for their truly loving care and dedication given to Lurline. The CNAs, nurses, and staff were there for her continuously. They extend a special thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their outstanding care given to Lurline, as well. For all her caregivers, the family will be forever grateful and appreciative.
