Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Lucy Bertrand Dement were held on Wednesday, January 04, 2006 at 2p.m. in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Eunice, burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Father Tommy Montelaro presided over the services.
Mrs. Dement, 85, and a resident Eunice, died Sunday, January 01, 2006 at 4:15 p.m. in Savoy Medical Center in Mamou following a lengthy illness. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Dement was a past member of the Cathoic daughters having been Catholic Daughter of the Year in 1994, the American Legion Auxillary, and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
The visitation was held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice, beginning on Tuesday, January 03, 2006 from 3p.m.-9p.m., and continued at 8a.m. until time of service Wednesday. The parish rosary was prayed Tuesday evening at 6p.m. and the Catholic Daughter rosary was prayed Wednesday at 11a.m.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Moncla and husband, Lawrence Theo Moncla of Eunice; two sisters, Leola Mercado of LaPorte, TX; and Madeline "Lula Mae" Greene of Houston, TX; two grandsons, Lawrence Joseph Moncla of Kinder, and Billy Lloyd Dement of New Iberia; great granddaughter, Christina Dement of New Iberia; and great grandson, Noah Lawrence Moncla of Eunice.
Mrs. Dement was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Elbert "Jiggs" Demenet; son, James Ray Dement; brothers, Lloyd Bertrand; father, Joseph Lee Bertrand; sister, Louela Bertrand.
Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice was in charge of the arrangements.
