Oakdale-Funeral Services for Louring Dale "L.D." Leggett, 71, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Elder Larry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Cryer Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

L.D. was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was raised in Oakdale; but lived most of his adult life in Westlake. L.D. enjoyed being outdoors and riding his motorcycle. You could always find him at football games; either to enjoy watching the game or for coaching his children. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. L.D. was a staff sergeant and a paratrooper in the 81 ^st airborne division.  He loved attending church at Lake City Baptist Church in Lake Charles where he was a devoted member. Nothing was more important to him than his family and grandchildren. Any moment he spent with his kids or grandkids were well cherished. L.D. will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish L.D.'s memory include his wife, Patricia Dugas Leggett; two sons, Chance and Lance Leggett; one daughter, Angela Gibson; two sisters, Wanda Leggett Bourque (Cornell) and Nelda Fontenot; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

L.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Branchard and Gladys Leggett; brother-in-law, Lonise "Joe" Fontenot; and two nieces, Nikki Genius and Missy Watson.
