Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Louis Jerry West, 78, will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Oakdale. Revs. Ervin Goodman, Troy Doyle and Ferran Bertrand will officiate. Jerry will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oakdale immediately following his services.

Jerry's family will receive friends and visitors at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Oakdale on Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, from 4-10 o'clock p.m. Jerry's visitation will resume at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Oakdale on Monday morning, April 29, 2024, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Jerry's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved and adored his family unconditionally and loved to spend time with them, especially his children and grandchildren. Jerry loved attending church and was a true man of God who loved the Lord. He loved to share the word of God with anyone who would listen, and he loved Gospel music.  Jerry was a die-hard LSU and Oakdale Warrior fan. His favorite player for the Oakdale Warriors was his grandson "John John".  He loved to work in his yard with his grandsons, Andy and Mason and enjoyed playing cards with his other grandchildren.  Jerry also enjoyed watching LSU baseball games with Mason. One of his favorite things to do was walk all around Oakdale with his grandchildren.  He always made sure to be present for his granddaughter Emily's surgeries. Jerry was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Oakdale for many years. He worked for city of Oakdale for many years as well as drove a truck for JB Hunt for seven years. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. where he served his country with dignity and honor for seven years. He was an over achiever in everything he did.  Jerry will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Jerry's memory include his wife, Pam West; two sons, Jerry West, and Patrick West and wife Kristie; four daughters, Stephanie West and husband Cory, Leslie Mancil and husband Jerry, Stacie Tilley, and husband Teddy, and Lacosta Baillio and husband Tommy, one sister, Patsy Stanley, and husband Burnie, sixteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ezra, and Eula West; and one brother, Earl West. Jerry's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Brighton Bridge Hospice for all the love and care that was shown to Jerry. They would like to thank Mrs. Juanita Fontenot, their social worker, Anna Doyle, Jerry's R.N. and Mrs. Kim, Jerry's C.N.A for all their special love and care. They would also like to thank everyone for their many thoughts, prayers, and food that was prepared throughout this time.
