Elton-Funeral service will be held for Louis Eugene Jeans, age 79, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Methodist Church of Elizabeth. Rev. Johney Jeans will officiate his brother's service. Burial will follow at Black Jack Cemetery in Grant under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. The following morning, visitation will continue at Methodist Church of Elizabeth from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Louis is a retired Superintendent of Education for Allen Parish with more than 34 years of service. He was a former coach of Elizabeth High School having taken his teams to numerous playoff games over the years. He was very proud to have led his team to the state baseball and basketball playoffs. As a student at Louisiana College, he lettered in four sports including football, basketball, baseball and track. Louis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family will cherish his memory.
Survivors include his wife-Wilma Manuel Jeans of Elton; four sons-Clayton E. Jeans and wife, Sharon of Onalaska, TX, Marty, Christopher and Todd Reeves; five daughters-Catherine "Kate" Normand and husband, Tony of St. Mary's, GA, Paula and Paige Reeves, Pam Lejeune, and Pennie Wilson; one brother-Johney Jeans and wife, Judy of Basile; his grandchildren-Cameron, Kaitlyn, Keith, Sheldon, Robert, Nikole, Damian, Benjamin, Tyler, Cade, Adele and Jordan; and his great grandchildren-Shellie, Madison, Paietion, Avery, Harper, Holand, Jackson, Madlyn and Masie.
Louis is preceded in death by his first wife-Elizabeth "Bett" Jeans; one daughter-Patty Reeves; two brothers-E.B. and Jerry "Bo" Jeans; one sister-Helen Powdrell; and his parents-Ella Bell and Walter Jeans.
