Lloyd "Freck" Holland was born September 28th, 1943, in Lake Charles, La., to the union of Herbert and Lucy Parker Holland. He passed away on January 12th, 2025, in Kinder. La. He was a graduate of Reeves High School where he was part of the State Champion basketball team. He married Georgia Pitre shortly after graduating and resided in Moss Bluff area until 1975 when he, his wife, and 2 sons moved onto his 13 wooded acres near Barnes Creek. A few years later, his daughter was born and his family was raised here. Throughout the years, he provided for his family by logging, cutting trees, obtaining a sand pit, starting his own business, and racing horses. He lived off the land by hunting, fishing, and planting vegetable gardens. He was well known for his homemade sausage. He truly was a jack of all trades. His hobbies included all types of hunting, steer wrestling at rodeos, hoop net fishing, and anything else you can think of that kept him in the woods. Most of all, he thrived on playing jokes on everyone. From putting a mounted deer head in the woods and having Uncle Bud go through a whole box of bullets thinking he was missing on every shot to putting an armadillo in the hoop nets leaving someone to think they had an alligator. He had a work ethic like no other. He passed that work ethic along to his children as well as kindness that he never bragged about. Work hard and do good to others. Don't boast of anything. Listen more than you talk. You'll learn a lot more this way. To know him was to love him or be scared of him. He was a gentle giant that you just didn't want to cross. He leaves behind so many memories in the hearts of those who knew him. This will keep his legacy alive forever. A true legend, Lloyd "Freck" Holland.
Those left to cherish Lloyd's memory include mother of his children, Georgia Holland; son, Dwane Holland and wife, Tomeeka; daughter, Kari Holland Broussard and husband, Joel; two brothers, Marvin Holland and wife, Nancy, Wiliam "Ginger" Holland and wife, Elmina; one daughter-in-law, Kim Holland, the widow of his late son; seven grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lucy Holland; one son, Jackie Holland; and one brother Alton Holland.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Kinder Retirement and Brighton Bridge Hospice for the love and care they extended to Lloyd.
