Obituary

Elton-Funeral service for Mr. Lloyd J. Darbonne, 85, will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 1pm in St. Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton beginning Friday evening at 6pm until 9pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning at 8am until time of service.
Mr. Darbonne was a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he served as an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired school bus driver with Jeff Davis Parish. He also worked many years at Elton Auto Parts. He proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Army. He was awarded two Purple Heart medals during his service as well as an Award of Appreciation from the country of France in recognition for his part in defending their country. He always enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a friend to all who knew him.
Mr. Darbonne is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Margaret Shuff Darbonne of Elton; a son, Mike Darbonne and wife, Bronwen, of Jennings; a daughter, Brenda Lambright and husband, Terry, of Lake Charles; a sister, Verian Minter and husband, Jack, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Shane Lambright and wife, Kristina, Angie McPherson and husband, Kevin, Nick Darbonne and wife, Rachel, Sarah Thibodeaux and husband, Kent, Micah Pullig and husband, Joseph, and Jenah Darbonne; and one great grandchild, Molli Jane Thibodeaux.
Mr. Darbonne was preceded in death by his parents, Valenta and Inez Darbonne and two sisters, Mildred Fuselier and Euna LaFleur.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
