Oberlin-Funeral service for LeRoy Fontenot, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th St., on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
LeRoy was a lifelong resident of Oberlin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a devoted husband of over 54 years. He was a business owner and enjoyed his family farm. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by everyone who had the honor to know and love him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ophelia Marcantel Fontenot of Oberlin; two sons, Joey Fontenot and Royce Fontenot, both of Oberlin; five daughters, Terri Hidalgo and husband, Carlos of New Orleans, Catherine Fontenot and husband, Kurt of Oberlin, Tanya France and husband, Damian of Westlake, Ava Hebert and husband, Chris of Lafayette and Christi Primeaux and husband, Shane of Lafayette; two sisters, Esther Richard and Atlas Louviere, both of Oberlin; 10 grandchildren; and, 3 great grandchildren.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, Oleus and Alicia Fontenot and three grandchildren, Erin Melissa, Clair Magen, and Lane Michael Fontenot.
