Kinder-Funeral service for Leonard James Eaglin, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Special guest speakers will be El Chico Garcia and Michael Deville. Burial will follow in St. Michael cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder from 9 a.m. until time of service with the Holy Rosary at 10 a.m.
Leonard was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He enjoyed riding his horse, going to McDonalds', and listening to zydeco music. Leonard was a man of strong faith. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Ellnor Leday Eaglin, for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family any chance he had. He also enjoyed spending time with his companion and best friend, Verlis Fontenot, for more than twenty five years. Leonard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Leonard's memory include his significant other, Verlis Fontenot; one daughter, Melviney "KeyKey" Garcia and husband, Jimmy Champ, of Crosby, Tx; one sister, Mable DeVille and husband, Joseph, of Kinder; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Camille Eaglin; wife, Ellnor Eaglin, four brothers, Patrick Eaglin, Wilton Eaglin, Wilfred Eaglin, Joseph Eaglin; and one sister, Mary Cole.
