Elton- It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Leona Francis, 78, of Elton, announce her passing. Mrs. Leona departed from this life on January 20, 2015 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Rev. David Busby will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Friday, January 23, 2015, from 3-9 p.m. A singing service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Leona was a loving mother, "ah-po" (grandmother), and "ah-po choba" (great-grandmother). She was a member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. She loved cooking, basket making, playing board games, and traveling the country with her family and friends. Leona was a "die-hard" Oklahoma Sooners fan. She was also a member of the Elton Assembly of God. She liked to laugh, pick and play. She loved to spend time with her family and made them a happy home.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Leonard Williams of Livingston, TX, and Dana Williams and wife, Loretta, of Elton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Abner and Ivey Williams; 5 brothers-Edward, James, Calvin, Eugene, and John Peter Williams; and two sisters, Ludie Williams Battise and Corinne Williams Clark.
Pallbearers for Leona's service will include Blaine Tolar, Walker Tolar, Maynard Williams, Donovan Williams, Shane Poncho, Jeramiah Thompson.
