Kinder-Funeral service for Mrs. Lena Guillory, 95, will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2PM in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery of Welsh under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will begin on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 2-9PM in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder with a 6:30 Vigil followed by the recitation of the Rosary. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 8AM until time of service.
Lena was a resident of Kinder and a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was a loving wife for over 50 years as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She provided for her family by preparing homemade meals and baking-especially bread and cookies. She enjoyed making quilts to give to family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her flowerbeds and gardening. She was truly an angel to her family as well as everyone she met. She was very devoted to her faith, spending time daily in prayer and reciting the rosary.
Survivors include her son, Larry Bob Guillory of Kinder; two daughters, Thelma Fontenot and husband, Gene of Lake Charles, and Judith Shuff and husband, Clifford of Lake Charles; one brother, Rene' VaSalle of Welsh; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and, two great-great grandchildren.
Lena is preceded in death by her husband, Allie Guillory, her parents, Eva and Freeman Crochet, and a granddaughter, Donna-Lynn Fontenot.
