Lee was born on the 14th of December in 1935 in Elton, Louisiana to Eli and Mary Gobert. She was the youngest of five kids and she was known as "Potone" to her close family and friends. She passed away at age 87 on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Pomona Valley Hospital in Pomona, California with her son and granddaughter at her bedside.
She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Elton while growing up. Lee always showed her religion in her everyday life. In 1957, she married Lester Robinson and had four boys between 1958 and 1962. Lee moved to Leavenworth, Kansas and raised her family as a military wife. She was always an active member of the local community. She served as president of the Enlisted Men's wives club in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Vice President of the Leavenworth chapter NAACP and was a runway model of the Zodiac Club. She loved to bowl, play basketball and in her later years, was an avid walker and could always be seen walking and talking in the neighborhood and became a fixture to all.
After the death of her youngest son, she moved to Florida, bought a condo and prepared to retire in Bradenton. As her health declined, she moved to Southern California to be near family.
Lee is survived by three sons, Lester Wayne, Lonnie Raymond and Larry James; her sister, Melva Huff; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and other relatives from Texas, Louisiana and California.
She will be laid to rest next to her son, Lee Roger Robinson in Elton, Louisiana.
