Kinder-Funeral service for Laura Mae Durio, age 87, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Jesse Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4-9 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life tribute presented by Bro. Steve Haymon and Kingsfarm Pentecostal Church. Visitation will continue on Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of funeral service.
Laura Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Quilting Ladies, and Catholic Daughters. She was a woman of very devout faith and a caregiver to others. She loved gardening, quilting, and baking. Laura Mae was known for her famous coconut cake. She adored her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 years, Mason Fontenot, of Kingsfarm; one son, Kent Fontenot, of Kingsfarm; three daughters, Brenda Horner and husband, Jim, of Iowa, Cythia Istre and husband, Rudy, of Lake Arthur, and Dell Tullier and husband, Jay, of Lake Charles; one sister, Jane Murphy and husband, Bert, of Colton, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Laura Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Evrar and Adelisca (Chaission) Durio; four brothers, Howard, Woodrow, Emery and Randy Durio; and one great grandchild, Adam Reed Istre.
