Elton-Funeral Services for Larry James Bertrand, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Elton. Rev. Barrett Marcantel will officiate. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Friday, January 1, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at First Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rose, for forty-nine years. He loved attending church at First Baptist Church in Elton where he was a lifelong member, as well as, a deacon. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. He loved to barbeque and could make the best barbeque brisket. He enjoyed duck hunting and carpentry. Larry worked as a superintendent for F. Miller & Sons to provide for his family. He served our country in The United States Army as a 101 st and 82 nd airborne paratrooper during the Vietnam War. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Larry's memory include his wife, Rose LaFleur Bertrand; one son, Kevin Bertrand and wife, Tricia, of Lake Charles; one daughter, Shamena Medellin and husband, Gilbert, of Oxford, AL; two brothers, Wayne Bertrand and wife, Wanda, of Wells, TX and Jesse Bertrand and wife, Loma, of Elton; one sister, Brenda Woods of Welch; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laura Bertrand; half-brother, Harold Bertrand; and half-sister, Bonnie Barron.
