Kinder-A Celebration of Life Service for Laddie Mary Pelican, 89 will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the "Bennie Earl Pelican Memorial Chapel" at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Deacon Roy Nash will officiate. Mrs. Laddie will be peacefully laid to rest at Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder from 4-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Laddie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister aunt and friend. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Esward "E.P." Pelican,  for over 40 years until his passing in May of 1989. Laddie was a lifelong resident of Kinder and a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where she served as a Catholic Daughter. She enjoyed all types of music and dancing; she loved playing card games and playing her "Cha-Ching". She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she spoiled rotten. She was a kind and caring person who was very giving of her time. She loved to cook for her family, especially during the holidays. Laddie will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Laddie's memory include her two daughters, Estalena Manuel of Kinder, and Beverly LeJeune and husband, William "Bic" of Kinder; two sons, James Pelican and wife, Marylin of Kinder and Gary Pelican and wife, Karen of Kinder; half-sister, Shirley Fontenot of Kinder; step-sister, Bonnie Manuel of Kinder; half-brother, Jimmy Lee Sonnier of Kinder; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Laddie is preceded in death by her parents, Stagg and Della Fontenot; her husband, Esward "E.P." Pelican; her two sons, Larry Guy Pelican and Bennie Earl Pelican; her grandson, Jason Guy Ware; her great-grandson, Allen Roy Ware Nix; and her son-in-law, David Louis Manuel.
