June was born to Roscoe and Clementine Baham in Palmetto, Louisiana. She was the youngest of seven children and moved with her parents to Bell, Louisiana to clear the land and build Camp Pearl. There she learned to play the piano, being taught by Ms. Ethel Greene. She was a graduate of Reeves High School. Later she met the love of her life, Mancel Reeves, and together they married and raised their four children. June was always busy; never had idle hands. She was always actively involved in activities such as working and selling 4-H pigs even while she was the first Hospital Administrator of Allen Parish Hospital. She had many talents and hobbies. Her musical talents included piano, bass, and fiddle. In the past, she was awarded State Fiddle Champion in the NSU Folk Contest. Over the years, she played piano at several churches including Reeves Baptist Church and Magnolia Baptist Church. Most recently from 2018-2023, June played her fiddle in the praise group at Broadlands Bible Church. She loved reading her Bible, praying for her family, growing vegetables and flowers, and quilting. Her all-time favorite was white perch fishing. Over the years, she and her late husband, Mancel, had a great love for our Lord and Savior, coffee and music. These loves led them to host and play in Bluegrass jams at their home as well as back in the 90's at their Lone Pine Music Park. They both had big hearts for the needy and together they started the H.O.P.E. Center in Ragley where they shared God's love and distributed food to needy families for over ten years. June often met homeless people on the highways near the H.O.P.E. center and was known to give them food and shelter; some she helped out for weeks and months. These last few years, June eagerly sought out our Lord and His mercy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish June's memory include her two sons, Billy Reeves and wife, Susie, and Timothy Reeves and wife, Therese of DeRidder, LA; one daughter, Susie McDaniel and husband, David of Chattanooga, TN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
June is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Clementine Baham; her husband, Mancel Reeves; one son, Franklin Reeves; two brothers, Jessie and Lewis Baham; and four sisters, Eva Cupid, Zola Campbell, Elvira Deshotel and Rosa Crawford.
