Kinder-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joyce Cecilia Fournet Buck, 93, at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016. A Vigil Service followed by the Holy Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Joyce, affectionately known as Tooney, was a lifelong resident of Kinder as well as a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved children and was a Home Economics teacher at Kinder High School for 28 years. Joyce was active in her community as a member of the Kinder McRill Cemetery Board, trustee of the Allen Parish Library Board, and she helped establish the Allen Parish Teachers' Credit Union. She loved playing cards, especially the game of Bridge. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed the outdoors, and liked to grow flowers. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Joyce's memory include her son, Dr. Michael Buck and wife, Kay, of Alexandria; three daughters, Christine Ortego and husband, Buddy, of Rosepine, Bonnie Capron and husband, David, of Encinitas, CA, and Virginia LaFleur and husband, Gene, of Kinder; one brother, Jack Fournet and wife, Sally, of Kinder; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Cecilia Fournet; her husband, Gurdon Buck, Jr; three brothers, Bill Fournet, Willis Fournet, Jr, and Pete Fournet; four sisters, Francis Sabatier, Rhona Martin, Bonnie Gory, and Virginia Fournet; and one grandchild, Jay Ortego.
