Kinder- Funeral Mass for Mr. Joseph E. Walker Sr. will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Monsignor Ronald Groth & Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. A scripture service will be held Monday at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder, July 6, 2009 at 7p.m. officiated by his nephew Rev. Donl Langley.
Visitation will be held Monday in Ardoin Funeral Home from 11am-10pm and will continue Tuesday at 8am until time of service.
Mr. Walker, 74, entered eternal rest Sunday, July 4, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Oberlin on November 9, 1934, to "Red" and Thelma Walker. Living most of his life in Kinder, Joe was a Kinder High School graduate and retired as a pipefitter with City Service. He was a United States veteran, serving the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Walker loved to hunt, make clocks, and wood work.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Wanda Walker; three sons, Joey Walker of Elton, Gerald Paul Walker and wife Becky of Kinder, Steve Walker and wife Kendra of McKinney, Texas; two daughters, Pam Taraiewicz and husband David of Sulphur, Tammy Walker and companion Charles Platt of Kinder.
Paw Paw Joe had fourteen grandchildren who loved to listen to his stories; JoAnna Chiasson, Brandon Walker, Ryan Walker, Jeremy Walker, Jeffery Walker, Chad Courville, Tara Prince, Carla LaFargue, Heather Foster, Heidi Barzare, Hollis Barzare, Nina Ray, Zachary Walker, and Karsyn Walker; five great grandchildren, Blake, Bryson, Tyler, Amelia, and Hadley.
He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy Walker of Conyers, Georgia, and Don Walker of Ponchatoula; two sisters, Ann Hunley of Turkey Creek, and Juanita "Ducky" Langley of Kinder; a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Walkers grandsons, serving as pallbearers, will carry their grandfather to his eternal resting place at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder.
