Elton-Funeral Service for Joseph "Gerald" Sonnier, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Kingsfarm Pentecostal Church.  Rev. Steve Haymon will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Elton under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton from 4-9 p.m.  On Wednesday morning, the visitation will take place at Kingsfarm Pentecostal Church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Joseph, affectionately known as "Gerald", was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Along with working at PPG until retirement, Gerald spent many years training racehorses.  He could always be found doing something outdoors with his animals, hunting or fishing.  Gerald never met a stranger.  He loved sitting around talking with old friends or making new ones!  He will be greatly missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Gary "Georgie" Sonnier and Gerald "Jerry" Sonnier and wife, Liz, all of Elton; two daughters, Paula Sonnier and Joey Sonnier Manuel, both of Elton; two brothers, Eddie Robert Sonnier and wife, Judy of Orange, TX and Burel Sonnier and wife, Katrina of Kinder; one sister, Addie Louise Matte and husband, Mike of Elton; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eseary Sonnier; his wives, Vena Stephens and Patsy Bergeron; one daughter, Elizabeth Sonnier Matt; two brothers, Joseph Willard Sonnier and Johnny Sonnier; and one granddaughter, Crystal Matt.
